Travelling to Gawadar is going to be fun and adventure as the Ministry of Ports and Shipping has announced here on Monday that they are all set to start the first ever ferry service between Karachi and Gawadar from the month of March. The ferry service is aimed to facilitate passengers as well as cargo shipping between two destinations. This step will also strengthen tourism industry in the area.
The first ever ferry service between the present and future industrial hubs of will be inaugurated by Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Nawaz Sharif in the middle of March. PM along with Army Chief General Raheel Shareef visited Gawadar in January to see the progress on CPEC project. He ordered during his visit to make necessary arrangement for the ferry service. Nawaz felt that there is a need of such commute to facilitate businessmen, tourists and workers working on various top level projects in Gawadar. The Government of Pakistan will bear the annual expense of around Rs44 million as the subsidiary for the ferry service.
The ferry has the capacity to carry more than 400 passengers along with the cargo. The ferry will take approximately 13 hours to reach Gawadar from Karachi. Along with other facilities, the ferry will be offering basic health emergency care services and a standard cafeteria. The ferry will run three days a week and on the weekend as well. Maritime security personnel will provide foolproof security to the ferry throughout the journey.
