International cricket makes a winning comeback at Karachi

After the phenomenal show of Pakistan Super League’s final in Karachi, played between two champions Peshawar Zalmi and Islamabad United in front of the impressive jam-packed crowd at the mighty National Stadium, the people of Karachi saw revival of International Cricket in Pakistan when West Indies accepted the invitation of PCB to visit City of Lights for a short series of 3 T20Is on 1, 2 and 3 April.

With this aplomb re-arrival of international cricket to Karachi, Pakistan ripped apart the weak team order of Windies by 2nd highest 1430-runs margin victory. Chasing a sizeable total of 204, the Windies went away to the worst possible start as they were condensed to 8/3 in the second over and dropped down to lowest score ever 60 in 13.4 overs, counting their highest margin defeat.

Pakistan's margin of victory is the second-biggest in T20s, behind Sri Lanka's 172-run win over Kenya in Johannesburg in 2007. Previously, Pakistan’s biggest victory in T20s was a 102-run win against Bangladesh in Karachi in 2008, after scoring 203-5. After 10 years, Pakistan set the same target and pulled off the match with some of the shining stars of the match.

The best pick from PSL, Debutant Hussain Talat scored a 41-run knock off 37 balls. He cracked two boundaries and a six. Opener Fakhar Zaman made a 24-ball 39, while Captain Sarfraz Ahmed hewed in with 38 runs off 22 balls after the windies shown them into bat. Shoaib Malik scored an undefeated score of 37 runs from 14 accompanying with Faheem Ashraf who rose up his game in the final over, thumping 14 off the 21 that came off Kendrick Williams.

With an all-rounding performance, however, Talat stand out the brightest. He followed his 37-ball 41 at No.3 with three catches and a wicket to cap off the first appearance he will remember for years.
