The Pakistan Super League is back in 2018

So, it's finally here! This is the time of the year again when you just can’t take your eyes off of the TV screens. The time of the year when you just want to turn every discussion into cricket debate and finally get the chance of watching your favourite cricket stars play in front of the whole crowd. The excitement, drama and enthusiasm cannot be higher as one of the biggest cricketing events of the world, Pakistan Super League is about to begin.

The stage for the 3rd edition of PSL has been set in which 6 teams will be contesting to conquer the title and magnificent dazzling trophy. This year, the excitement here in Pakistan is at peak since the iconic National Stadium Karachi will host the final of PSL and two playoff games in Lahore.

Along with enjoying legendary stuff of cricket, watching International players in action, and hunting for the future stars, PSL is all about supporting your home city. However, you will find many Karachiites backing for Quetta Gladiators for many reasons including Karachi’s players, Sarfraz Ahmed, their excellent previous performances and of course, Kevin Paterson.

This is another major effort by the Pakistan Cricket Board to get international cricket back to Pakistan on the more permanent basis.

The greatest role of PSL has been seen in unearthing and refining the talent which eventually becomes potential match-winner. Pakistan has got really benefitted through the league as PSL has given us Hasan Ali, who won us the Champions Trophy, became top bowler and also acknowledged as the emerging player of the year by the ICC last year. Mohammad Amir and Shadab Khan can too notch the top position this year because their leaps and bounds over the last year have improved a lot.

Not far behind in terms of talent and the man who played a crucial role in Pakistan's grotesque victory in the Champions Trophy is the left-handed opener, Fakhar Zaman. He is another player that has discovered from the exposure of a world-class tournament like the PSL.

Predicting that who will top the chart is bit tricky but in the last two editions, generally, it’s an international player or a veteran Pakistani name that’s been successful in doing fireworks but this year we have so many names full of potential and playing records that can lead the name like Babar Azam, Sahibzada Farhan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Saud Shakeel, Hasan Mohsin, Saif Badar, Sameen Gul, Rohail Nazir, Saad Ali, and Raza Hassan etc.

Peshawar Zalmi, winners of the 2017 edition, will be looking to win the tournament for the second time around. Meanwhile, the newcomers Multan Sultans will be looking to start their campaign on a high and start their bid on a winning note. Darren Sammy, who led West Indies to victory in the World Twenty20 victories back in 2012 and 2016, has retained his captaincy. Meanwhile, Shoaib Malik – who took Pakistan to the final in the 2007 edition of World T20 – will be leading the Multan Sultans side inaugural bid.

The only depressing part of this magical event is that we will no more get to see KP playing PSL in next edition as he is going to say goodbye to the cricket forever. But, Quetta Gladiators brought us the classical KP game that's the best part.

So, let the show continues till 25th of March, 2018 and sees the winner who puts the greatest effort to grab the trophy.
