Goodbye Wayne Rooney

Wayne Rooney has returned to the place he belongs. Former England’s captain and Manchester United legend re-joined childhood club Everton on Sunday after spending 13 years at Manchester United, leaving English football’s biggest club as its record scorer having won every major title.

On returning Everton, Rooney targets winning trophy for the boyhood club. "This football club should be winning trophies and we're taking huge steps to try to win trophies," said Rooney. Rooney's 13-year period at United included five Premier League titles, three League Cups, one FA Cup, one Champions League and one Europa League.

“Just want to say a massive thank you to everybody at Manchester United. Thanks to the boards over the years, the managers and coaches I've played under, the staff I've worked with, the teammates I've played alongside, and finally the amazing fans that I've been lucky enough to have played for. Thanks for the memories.”

From scoring a hat-trick on debut till surpassing the record of most goals of Sir Bobby Charlton, his game has been so perfect for the fans who love football. Imagining a Manchester United Team without Rooney is so hard. He’s had an exceptionally self-sacrificing career at Old Trafford. His topmost overlapped with United's best team during his spell at the club and his role in that side was basically to help get the most out of Cristiano Ronaldo.

However, his time at the club will be remembered as a job well done, regardless of whether or not fans think it's a job he could have done better. After watching him play at Old Trafford for 13 years, it was uncomfortable to struggling him through the odds during three to four seasons. But, still, he has won the whole kit and caboodle at United and crowned the charts for goals scored.

History will remember him as one of the most selfless forwards English football has ever seen, with—in his prime—a dream and courage that truly set him apart.
