115,000 Laptops to Be Distributed in University Students

Here’s a good news for the all the University goings that Government has announced to distribute 115,000 Laptops to the deserving students. Provincial minister for Higher Education Commission, Syed Raza Gillani, has declared that distribution of laptops among university students will start from 13th of March. A total of 115,000 laptops will be given to deserving students from public sector universities, an official announcement said.

This announcement of laptops distribution was made in a departmental meeting at Civil Secretariat on 8th March. The secretary of Higher Education Department Naseem Nawaz and representatives of private universities and Punjab Higher Education Commission attended the meeting.

According to Prime Minister’s Laptop scheme, only during course, public sector University students were eligible to register in the program. But this year, Punjab Government is planning to distribute some in Private Universities, too. It means that around 110,000 laptops were to be distributed to deserving students enrolled in public universities. However, Punjab government has decided to award further 5,000 laptops to the students from private universities.

Talking about this change in policy, Raza Gillani said that provision of laptops to private universities is another ‘first’ of Punjab government. He further added that the availability of the technology and internet would help the students to enhance their reach to the latest knowledge-trends. The distribution of these laptops will start from 13th of March. Public sector universities will be the first to get rewarded by these laptops, with private sector universities coming later down the road.

It was Punjab Government who took the initiative in distributing laptops among the deserving students of University. The trend expanded to the National scale and largely followed in every public university. At present, almost every student in public university is benefitting by the Prime Minister Laptop scheme. The decision of distributions is made on the merit scale.
