Pakistan Railway, now introduces mobile application for ticketing

In a world of smartphones where everything is going to an application, Pakistan Railway has also come to a step forward to introduce an app for booking train tickets through a mobile phone. The android application will provide the answer to every inquiry through menu tabs. Before this, bringing in e-ticketing was, definitely, an advanced initiative taken by Pakistan railway.

The Directorate of Information Technology has developed an application for Pakistan Railway in order to provide more convenient services for the people. Now anyone with an Android phone anyone can simply book a railway ticket from anywhere in Pakistan within 3 minutes, with no need of visiting the local railway offices. No extra expense would be taken from the passengers for the service.

After downloading the app, the users will simply sign in and the app will show 6 tabs; Timings, Travel, Tickets, Helpline, Freight, and Feedback. Users are allowed to reserve tickets in 48 trains and can get other details such as possible delays, expected time of arrivals, payment solutions etc.

Khawaja Saad Rafiq, Federal Railway Minister inaugurated the mobile application. He said that passengers can reserve their preferable seats anywhere and anytime.

Nowadays 70 percent of people who travel through trains has an access to the internet and smartphones. That means a huge amount of people would be getting benefits through the app. The minister further told that about 350 trains are being air conditioned for easiness of travelers. He told that soon they will restructure 2000 old trains.

As stated above, Pakistan Railway already has an e-Ticketing service on its website. The e-ticketing system was initiated in October 2016 and the railway ministry earned Rs. 100 million in the span of two months. Through the service which is accessible in 51 cities of Pakistan, passengers can reserve their tickets online or through mobile without visiting the office. The payments are done by the credit cards or online transferring.
