No Balloons, No Flowers on this Valentine’s Day

Though celebrating Valentine’s Day is ruled out by the authorities here but the world’s best airline is celebrating it by squeezing red flower in the sky.

Emirates airlines have revealed their unveiled a rose decal on one of its Boeing 777-F freighter planes at the Emirates Appearance Centre in Dubai as part of its Valentine’s Day celebrations.

Like it or not, you should not have roses or flowers in public places because Islamabad court has banned all kinds of public exposure in the account of Valentine’s Day. Lovers in the capital city are being cautioned they must not show displays of love or publicly celebrate in “any open space or government building”.

The majority of Muslim countries are NOT celebrating by their own style. In Indonesia, many school students protested chanting “Say No to Valentine’s Day”, and denounced this day because it’s a part of Western indecent and vulgar tradition. Head-covered girls were along with boys of same age group.

All kinds of heart-shaped products are banned, along with electronic and print media relating the day paying honor to St Valentine. The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has strictly ordered channels to not to show anything that promotes this day as this indicates an immoral event of indecency. President Mamnoon Hussain also made a speech in February 2016, saying Valentine’s Day was "not a part of Muslim tradition, but of the West”.

Islamabad High Court's decision has also separated social media users, with some tweeting for the favor of the ban and others intensely against it. A tweep tweeted: “I salute Islamabad High court for a decision on Valentine's Day.” While another posted: “To hell with Islamabad high court happy #valentine’day.”

So don’t look for giant red hearts balloons today, you will end up regretting it and if you want to celebrate your Valentine’s Day, make sure don’t enjoy yourself in free space. There will be no boxes of chocolates and no flowers for the occasional lovers but a long stick with a police van and yes some marks on your body.
