How Qalandars turned 59 into mountainous one for Zalmis

So you have to score sixty from 120 balls, it had seemed all pretty clear-cut and simple. But, not quite, though. Even getting 60 could be troublesome if you have Yasir Shah in your squad.

Lahore Qalandars leg spinner Yasir Shah took a low-scoring affair on its head with four wickets for seven, as Peshawar Zalmi were bound to get for a cliff-hanging three-wicket win and with 18 balls to spare, in the sixth match of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) on Sunday.

First up, watching Peshawar Zalmi bowling ruthlessly and rolling out the whole squad of Lahore Qalandars for just 59 in 10 overs, seemed incredibly-unbelievable, it looked awesome but nobody could imagine that Lahore Qalandars had a bowling attack as well.

On the game’s night, when the batsmen from either side failed to put a hem on, declining like nine pins, the bowlers conquered this match.

And in a heart-pumping and low-scoring delight, the Peshawar Zalmis huffed and puffed before smashing hit a great ace. Yasir Shah, accurately taught everyone how to defend low score and how to turn an obvious one-sided into absolute thriller.

Yasir Shah grabbed Kamran Akmal, Sohaib Maqsood, danger-man Eoin Morgan and skipper Darren Sammy to make the target look like a wall. Runs were at a top but Chris Jordan and Wahab Riaz got them just over the stroke.

Zalmi v Qalandars was undoubtedly one of the best matches played at PSL. In this season 2, this was, so far, most thrilling game that both sides were fighting for the figure of sixty. Though, Peshawar Zalmi pulled off the gala in the final moments but it was the first occasion we saw that getting 8 from 35 seems impossible at times when you are brazening out the death bowling ahead.

Before Zalmi, it was Lahore Qalandars who utterly collapsed while batting first. Young pacer Hasan Ali rolled up for three along Chris Jordan who got two wickets. Other four, Afridi, Wahab, Asghar and Hafeez took one.

LQ’s only Zaman managed to score 33 off 19 with four boundaries and a six. However that still didn't impede the Lahore Qalandars from making an inane record of making the lowest ever total in PSL history, and the second lowest in T20 history. It was their spirit and love for game why we are discussing it here.
