8th Karachi Literature Festival is underway

Karachi is shimmering in this winter with the beauty of intellectuals in this day and age. So, the economic hub is more like the heart of literature because a huge number of renowned poets, writers, journalists, critics, famous personalities are around to mark the event of 8th Karachi Literature Festival (KLF). It is the country’s most anticipated literary event, has begun and is going successfully on 10, 11, and 12 February 2017 at the Beach Luxury Hotel, Karachi.

A vivacious dialogue of interviews, panel discussions, readings, book launches, English and Urdu mushaira, stand-up comedy, author signings, performing arts, art exhibition, film screenings, art strand, book fair, literary awards, and a food court, has been lined up. Authors from India, Maldives, and America are particularly attending the event and one of the well-known guests is Roger Long, the biographer of the country’s first Prime Minister Liaquat Ali. Famous Pakistani film actress Shabnam is also attending the event at Beach Luxury Karachi.

Like each year, this time a varied line-up of writers and artists has decorated the 3-day programmers’ list. The lecturers on the opening and closing days include notorious historian Ayesha Jalal, Novelists and journalist Mohammed Hanif, legendary Urdu writer Mustansar Husain Tarar and American philanthropist Bob Sager.

The festival that has became known to be an annual feature in the literary and intellectual horizon of the metropolitan area will be attended by writers and artists from different edges of the world. Since the present year literary festival matches with the 70th anniversary of Pakistan’s independence for that reason there will be 70 special gathering including those related to the happening itself, the organizers revealed.

The Karachi Literature Festival (KLF) has become a genuine symbol of Pakistan’s artistic life that was earlier concealed from the rest of the word, the reason being the mottled status of Pakistan. The first edition, held in 2010, was visited by about 5,000 people, even though last year the number exceeded 175,000. KLF is no doubt, successfully feeding the intellectual needs of the Karachiites.
