Pakistan Super League is back to stun everyone

So, it’s that time of the year again! With its sparkling sport and chirpy city banter, the second spell of Pakistan Super League – PSL 2017 has started in its full grandeur. In the glittering fireworks and celebrity brightness, the crowd at Dubai International Stadium went Dil Dil Pakistan yesterday. The whole environment was celebrating the successful trend of “Made in Pakistan” cricket league and this is Pakistan Super League.

The spectacular opening ceremony of PSL stunned everyone and put many other leagues in shade. The event began with the National Anthem and cultural folk songs led the dance performance on the floor. Ali Zafar – brand ambassador of PSL – staggered the ground with the official anthem of PSL. Shehzad Roy was also sprinkled his voice magic to the audience. The latest seasoning was Jamaican singer Shaggy who rocked the night with his performance. The show got moving ahead in wonderful style with five drummers hovering in the air and drumming up a melody. But a song that had the sell-out crowd fusing in and playing in harmony was 'Dil, Dil, Pakistan,' the unofficial anthem of Pakistan, originally sung by the legendary singer, the late Junaid Jamshed.

Following the opening ceremony, Chairman Najam Sethi addressed to the crowd with all five captain of PSL Kumar Sangakkara, Brendon McCullum, Darren Sammy, Misbah Ul Haq and Sarfraz Ahmad. They signed a spirit of the cricket bat and greeted the audience.

The opening match of the second season between Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi in which United stunned the rest of the teams with all-rounding comprehensive performance and beat the Zalmis by 7 wickets. Brad Haddin blasted 73 off 39 balls to give 104-run first wicket stand with Dwayne Smith to win over Peshawar Zalmi in chasing the target of rain-shortened 173 runs. Earlier, Peshawar made a tough start with T20 specialist Kamran Akmal top-scoring with 88 off 48 balls before the side finished 9-190 off its 20 overs. Brad Haddin was declared man of the match owing to his astonishing blow.

Pakistan Super League is the hottest talk of the town that drives crazily the fervent appetite of the cricket-hungry nation. Everything is on top-notch. PSL brings with its delight, enthusiasm, action, pleasure, joy, fanfare, celebration, entertainment, fervor and most important of all, international cricketers. The scene of Brendon McCullum lofting the ball driving straight from a Shane Watson delivery for a splendid six is much more than a spectacle in itself. It is a note, a crystal clear one that cricket is all set to come back home to Pakistan.
