Google starts crack down against fake ads

Google and Facebook have taken productive steps to bans the websites for circulating fake news. Google cracked down against the scammers and banned 1.7 billion ads and 200 websites that were misleading masses to provide an open and secure environment to its users. Google reported that 200 publishers have been banned from using its AdSense product in the fourth quarter.

The actions taken by Google identified and immobilized a total of 112 million ads for “trick to click,” and more than 23,000 self-clicking ads. It has disabled more than 68 million bad ads for healthcare violations; in 2015 it was 12.5 million. Nearly 80 million bad ads for deceiving, misleading and shocking users have also been taken down.

Ina blog post published by Google’s Scott Spencer, Director of Product Management, Sustainable Ads, he said,

“A free and open web is a vital resource for people and businesses around the world. And ads play a key role in ensuring you have access to accurate, quality information online. But bad ads can ruin the online experience for everyone. They promote illegal products and unrealistic offers. They can trick people into sharing personal information and infect devices with harmful software. Ultimately, bad ads pose a threat to users, Google’s partners, and the sustainability of the open web itself.”

AdSense gives advertisements for websites, allowing them to earn funds whenever a visitor views a particular ad on the site. It’s how many fake news sites (and regular ones) are able to operate and earn a profit. Google already had a policy in place that removed advertisers that made false or misleading claims, but now it has extended that policy to include sites that spread false information as well.
