Yuvraj Singh – an inspiration to many

It's time for Bollywood to make a biopic on Yuvraj Singh too. The man whose whole life is a lesson for everyone, still doing wonders to make it more legendary.  The comeback of Yuvraj is nothing short of inspirational. He fought with cancer and then for his place in the team. Yesterday, he again fought and knocked brilliant career best 150 to mark his grace in the game, for he came out of the jaws of death.

The landmark achieved on Thursday at Cuttack's Barabati Stadium, with Yuvraj blowing his way to a scintillating hundred in the company of fellow limited overs stalwarts MS Dhoni. Old friends met on the pitch and rolled back the years to score terrific centuries to help India lock a series-clinching 15-run victory over England, joining the club with Sachin Tendulkar to score 100 after age 35.

The southpaw smashed 150 off 127 balls, with 21 fours, 3 sixes and a strike rate of 118.11, constituting the total of 281 for six in his 295th match for India. He came to bat when Asian side was having deep trouble on 25 for 3; later Dhawan was gone and he joined his old partner MS Dhoni and what given was thrilling for any cricket fan. They both share a splendid history of partnerships of nearly 3000 runs in ODIs while building a very strong middle-order bond.

"Probably, one of my best innings! The last time I got a hundred was the 2011 World Cup. I am very happy with the innings. We were trying to get a partnership. I just wanted to play down the ground and not take many risks. I have been hitting the ball well in the whole domestic season," said Yuvraj during the innings break.

As Yuvraj Singh’s comeback in the team was not anticipated in this One Day International Series, it came as a shock to some. But Kohli was confident about the selection to support MS Dhoni in the middle order. He said,

“Yes, that (middle-order weakness) is something we have discussed before picking Yuvi because we cannot leave so many burdens on Dhoni alone in the middle order”. Now as Yuvi has made a comeback in the team, the potential remain high from him. Yuvraj Singh along with MS Dhoni is seen as attacking players who can bat well under pressure.

The six sixes champion has a very interesting history with England. Watching Yuvraj put the England bowlers to the sword, it reminded of the Yuvraj Singh in the pink of form all those years ago. Yuvraj Singh holds many extraordinary moments in his career spanning over 15 years now and this knock is right up there with his other great knocks.

Yuvraj is a perfect example of fight back. First, he won the combat against cancer. Then, he hit 672 runs in five Ranji Trophy matches this season of domestic toil and coming back to one day team.  It was a touching moment for every cricket fan. Deserve the credit for his return. Anil Kumble and Virat Kohli for his selection and giving the choice to play his own style of game in pressure but one person deserves praise more here is his wife Hazel Keech.
