Saif breaks silence on Taimur

Nothing is fascinating in this world than having a baby. Famous Bollywood couple Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor had a too same feeling of joy when they hold their son for the first time. They welcomed their child and named him ‘Taimur Ali Khan’, following the heritage of their Nawab family. But little did they know about the dim-witted debate over their new child’s name. People trolled the couple for having a controversial and Muslim name as if the couple would change the name. However, Saif and Kareena handled the irrational criticism smartly and at last, Saif felt the need to open up about the hullabaloo.

It’s the first time since mid-December, after Taimur’s birth that Saif Ali Khan broke the silence and took a witty move to address the situation. He said,

“Perhaps, I should have added a disclaimer, as they do in the movies, that any resemblance to any person, living or dead is purely coincidental. I’m aware of the heritage of the Turkish ruler and my son was not named after him. He was Timur, my son is Taimur.”

Just after, when Saif Ali Khan announced the name of his son, people had gone mad over twitter and it took an ugly turn. ‘Taimur’ was being compared to the former Turkish emperor who was allegedly involved in mass murders. The trolls by the extremists touched a new low when demands were raised to change it into Hindu one because it’s unfair to give a Muslim name when a mother is Hindu.

Saif in his latest stance also uncovered the fact that Taimur was also a name of one of his cousins, just like elder children of Saif and Amrita Singh, Sara and Ibrahim.

"Social media just makes it clear what everybody is thinking in a sense. There is a lot of anonymity from the side of the people who are doing the talking so they feel free to say whatever they like, and sometimes they get very nasty... And that's fine. It doesn't mean that twenty, thirty or forty years ago people weren't thinking similar things but maybe they did not have an outlet then," Nawab added in his statement.

Kareena’s uncle and veteran actor, Rishi Kapoor also defended the name of Tamiur on twitter at the eve of birth, saying in a tweet, “what’s wrong with you guys? It’s their child; they can give him any of name according to their wish.”
