Roger Federer Brought Smile to the Lily's Face

What could be more charming than seeing a fan overcome with emotions when meeting their sports hero? Man, it never gets old. Exactly, was the situation a 10-year-old girl named Lily found herself in at the Hopman Cup when she came face-to-face with Roger Federer.

In Australia while playing a recent match at Hopman Cup, a 10-year-old girl named Lily got a lucky chance to meet Roger Federer while helping out with the pre-match coin toss. The moment was clearly overwhelming for everyone. 

Federer is still a champ of Tennis and it is not regularly you meet the king on his throne. Wednesday was by far the most magical day of Lily’s life. Meeting your idol can change your life in seconds and Lily has been so lucky to have some moments with the star.

Federer alongside partner Belinda Bencic was got ready to play their mixed double rubber against Germany, however, when he saw Lily crying, he called her and gave her a hug that sent the audience into emotions. He consoled Lily who was going to flip the coin saying, "Don't worry I'll help you". His German rival Alexander Zverev consoled Lily further, advising her, "'He's [Federer] a very nice guy, so don't cry."

“Lily, I think we know the result, but who do you want to ask [heads or tails]?” asked the umpire, to which Lily said, Roger.

Federer then asked Lily, “What should I say, heads or tails?”

Lily answered, “Heads” to which the Swiss expert agreed.

It to be sure ended up as heads and Federer immediately high-fived her by saying, "Yes! Great job! We won something today – we will serve." The tennis expert then wished her well as she strolled off the court as yet crying after to meeting the 17-time Grand Slam Champion.

Earlier in the day, when losing to Alexander Zverev, Federer picked up reprisal as he and Bencic vanquished Zverev and his partner Andrea Petkovic. The Hopman Cup is a part of Federer's training for the Australian Open in the coming week this month. He wants to win the year's first Grand Slam for the fifth time in general, and first since 2010.
