All Pakistan Football Challenge Cup

Pakistan’s top football clubs have confirmed their participation in the All-Pakistan Football Challenge Cup, which will begin in Peshawar’s Qayyum Stadium from October 1st. This event has been organized in collaboration with the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Football Association (KPFA) with Pakistan Premier Football League (PFFL) champions K-Electric, four-time PPFL champions KRL, Wapda, PAF and PIA competing amongst 12 teams for the trophy and Rs. 100,000 in prize money.

This tournament shall be played on league basis with three teams in four groups. The Grand Finale shall commence on October 19th. This tournament is like a ray of hope in the crucial times of Pakistani football. Players and departments are still waiting for the competitive action in the absence of the PPFL and other domestic events, which are usually organized by the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF). Even this event is funded by KPFA alone while the PFF is still a controversial entity with two rival factions, which are Faisal Saleh Hayat’s Group is being backed by FIFA while the Lahore High Court has appointed PFF administrators Asad Munir at the federation’s Headquarters. Munir has approved the All-Pakistan Challenge Cup.

Departments are sending all their teams to Peshawar. Authorities aim to play any local tournament, which they can because they have not had PPFL and the PFF Challenge Cup did not took place either. Hence, there is scarcity of football events. This tournament will help departments to keep their players and players will not go through the trouble of losing jobs.
