Coke Studio at the US Consulate Karachi

It is a proud moment for all the Pakistanis and music lovers as Pakistani music has once again able to win hearts at an international level and give Pakistani music a bestowed identity. US Consulate General of Karachi has picked up Coke Studio this time to give an introduction of local music to their officials. This has been done as a part of carrying on with the legacy of the organization regarding getting familiarized with local flavors.

It has been affirmed that Coke Studio offers diversified music of Pakistan that ranges from classical to modern, which also includes folk, classical, ghazal, bhangra, Sufi and contemporary hip hop, rock and pop music. For this US Consulate Karachi has released a video clip on their social media accounts, which starts with the melodious vocals of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan singing the classis “Afreen Afreen”. This song was originally sung by the legendary Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.

According to the US Consulate authorities, lyrics of this song are beautiful because they describe love and beauty. Love and beauty are dominant themes in American music as well. Similar to this song, all the other songs have also received great admiration, along with notable qualities, which are similar to American music. Songs like “Tajdar-e-Haram” and “Mai Dhai” actually portray different cultural and traditional orientations of Pakistan. Being a culturally rich country, Coke Studio has been successful in bringing out Pakistani music, which is unique to its original regional place.

Afreen is a young writer and visionary towards life predominantly. I believe that writing is similar to life; it inspires surprises and creates. Being a Literature Masters, I am passionate about viewing the world with literary spectacle. Solely in love with this beautiful part of Universe called Pakistan, I am creating words and ideas for CharchaGuru.
