Hepatitis in Pakistan

One of the biggest reasons for liver failure in the people of Pakistan is hepatitis B and C. Both these kinds of hepatitis cause liver inflammation in human beings and apparently there is no vaccination available for this inflammation of liver.

Recently there was a seminar held with the theme of “Awareness on Hepatitis B and C” that raised importance on healthy lifestyle with regard to the disease of hepatitis. There are around 12 million Pakistanis that are affected by hepatitis every year and develop jaundice. Jaundice is one of the extreme conditions caused by hepatitis B and E.

Unfortunately, Pakistan is among the worst affected nations by hepatitis. Hepatitis is a major health issue in our part of the world because it can cause you your life. Although hepatitis is curable, one person dies with this disease after every 10 seconds in South Asia.

Due to being such detrimental disease, the infection can cause serious effects on others as well. Hepatitis can be transferred from mother to babies and it can also be transferred through exposure to the infected blood. Even the medical examiners, which treat hepatitis patients, are at a risk of getting the disease from the needle stick through accidents. Nevertheless, sexual transmission of hepatitis is still very uncommon.

Health institutions of Pakistan are fighting against this disease through continuous research work for its cure. Health institutions are trying to give medical assistances to people suffering from hepatitis through health finances by Government and private sectors.
