World Breastfeeding Week 2016

World Breastfeeding Day was celebrated on 1st august 2016 across the globe. Various European countries celebrated this motherly day in different manners. Other than the festivities, what World Breastfeeding Day is all about is the realization of the significance of this act and creating possible means for the mothers to do it at the time of need.

In a country like Pakistan, all kinds of mothers are still ashamed of breastfeeding at various places other than their respective homes. There are numerous things related to breastfeeding, which common people of Pakistan are unaware about. Due to this, they are not making things any good for their women. There are no proper rooms for breastfeeding at public places as well. On World Breastfeeding Day 2016, women across the globe demanded to normalize breastfeeding.

Feeding the child when he is hungry is every woman’s right, be it publically or privately. Unfortunately, this act is still considered taboo in most parts of the world. Women have to face humiliation and unease when their child is hungry and they have no other option but to feed. In order to fight this insulting feeling, often many women try to keep their babies hungry until they are able to get their private space but this is too difficult and suffering for the child. He/she should have a right to be fed by a mother, who is responsible to feed them on the time of need because they are too young to do it by themselves.
