World Hepatitis Day 2016

World Hepatitis Day 2016 was celebrated on 28th July. People all over the world pledged to continue their efforts of putting an end to this disease, which affect millions of people across the globe, every year. Hepatitis is the inflammation of the liver, which is caused by viruses, autoimmune disease and toxic materials.

World Health organization (WHO) has categorized Hepatitis into its categories, which are A, B, C, D and E. Hepatitis A and E are caused due to the consumption of contaminated food and liquids while Hepatitis B, C and D are caused due to the contact with infected body fluids. Hepatitis is also transferred from one person to another through the donation of contaminated blood or even through the use of unsterilized medical equipment during any medical treatment. Thus, a mother can also transfer Hepatitis B to her newly born baby at the time of birth and it can also be transferred through sexual contact.

Some of the common hepatitis symptoms are lethargy, poor diet, nausea, fewer and jaundice. Even when a person does not reveal any apparent symptoms, the liver is being damaged to a great extent if he has hepatitis. One of the biggest risks with hepatitis is this fact that a person may not even know that he is being infected.

On World Hepatitis Day 2016, awareness for hygienic conditions was spread to let hepatitis has minimum chances of spread and infection among people at their homes, as well as, outside.
