British Council Library Reopening

British Council Karachi has announced to reopen their library that contains over 10,000 books in Karachi. This reopening is expected to commence next month. Books at the library shall be from non-fiction, romance, horror, young adult literature and children’s books. This library is located at the British Council on Sharah-e-Iran in Clifton.

The British Council library is reopening after 15 years in Karachi. Similar kind of planning is being done for the city of Lahore as well. The building was designed by the architect Habib Fida Ali. It has been refurbished by the modern architects. With the state of the art facilities, this building has been transformed into the modern and classic library. However, the concept with which, the library is being reopened is not conventional.

Concept makers created the library to have an open space for open dialogue. People visiting the facility should not feel uncomforted or fear to openly talk about their ideas and opinions. People can also discuss books openly by giving reviews and possible interpretations on it. Neco’s Café is on the premises where you can grab your perfect coffee cup with a little bit snacks to enjoy the best read or listen to someone talk about your favorite book.

Ismat Chugtai Auditorium is also inside the library that has the capacity of 100 people. More people can be adjusted into the courtyard as well. This makes this venue perfect for bigger events, such as book launches, reading or poetry sessions, and seminars.
