Sania Mirza: A True Female Sportsperson

Indian tennis star and Pakistani Cricketer Shoaib Malik’s wife Sania Mirza has proved that she is not just a great tennis player but a perfectly liberal and independent woman. Like a truly successful woman, she believes in making lives easier for others of her own kind!

Sania launched her biography Ace Against Odds. With the launch of this book, she created waves of some feminist talk by shutting down an Indian journalist. On the question of when she plans to settle down? Sania highlighted it to the world that how efforts of a woman are always undermined by expecting her to fulfill one single role always.

No matter how hard working a woman is in her career, home or someplace else, she is always judged by the hypocrite society. Her success is only measured by her capability to raise a family. At times, her freedom to choose the right time for her family actions is also threatened by the patriarchal and unfair society.

Saying it to an Indian journalist and referring to an Indian society, Sania gave the universal message to all the countries, especially South Asian. Until and unless, women have rights to determine their own destiny similar to men, nations cannot become truly successful. Every woman has a right to bear a life but woman’s womb should not be the only significant thing in her life. She should be allowed to pursue her dreams and career in a similar way men are.
