Educating People about Baby Cot Death

Cot death is common in babies all across the world. Researchers and medical practitioners have come up with a new idea to reduce cot deaths. This new strategy is based on giving card boxes to new parents for putting their babies.

Babies stay prevented from rolling onto their stomachs through the small box with foam mattress, this increases the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). These baby boxes have been quite popular in Finland. With their use, infant mortality rate in Finland has decreased from 65 per 1000 in 1938 to 2.3 in 2015. Recently, these boxes have become too popular to various other big hospitals in big countries. Doctors give these boxes to the new families.

These baby boxes have a firm foam mattress, waterproof mattress cover, and cotton sheets. These boxes are filled with clothes, nappies, and other necessities. These boxes and the educational resources in them will readily help in the reduction of infant mortality all over the world. In a country like Pakistan, where infant mortality rate is too high due to numerous reasons, this technique can be effectively used to bring a change.

These boxes can be given at big hospitals at least in big cities. Medical practitioners can create awareness regarding the significance of these boxes in common expecting mothers and new mothers. Different parents can also share their experience of using them after several months of the usage to let doctors be aware of the results.
