The Buddha Day

With all the negative religious happenings in the country, there is the light of positivity too as The Buddha Day was celebrated in Pakistan for the very first time. This day was celebrated to pay homage to the contribution of Buddha Siddhartha Gautama as the founder of Buddhism in South Asia.

The entire credit of this venture goes to The Ministry of National History and Literary Heritage Division, which emphasized on the significance of Buddha history during special functions. We have a great number of Buddhist places and museums in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Wah Cantt Punjab, and Islamabad. All these places have played a significant role in keeping the history alive in the hearts of the people for so many years.

This great event in Pakistan was attended by a Sri Lankan delegation consisting of 25 Buddhist Monks. This profound religion emerged in the late 6th century BC by Buddha in Asia. This religion has its roots in Pakistan for about 2,300 years ago under the warrior Ashoka.

It may also surprise you that currently, Pakistan has around 1,492 Buddhists. This number of the population makes Buddhism a minority religion in the country, which should be celebrated and respected by all the citizens.

Common people do not really know about the teachings of Buddha in detail. People should know about all the teachings. Values promoted by Buddha are unique. They are an integral part of Buddhism but they are being preached and followed by all the Buddhists in Nepal, Sir Lanka, Maldives and many other western countries.
