Sleeping at Unfamiliar Places

Have you ever experienced inability to sleep at a new place and wondered what is wrong with you? Well, nothing is wrong with you but its natural! According to research studies, people sleep less at unfamiliar places because the left part of their brain stays awake and alert.

As the left part of your brain is awake when you are sleeping, it is more responsive to sound and touch. Obviously, one can never have good night’s sleep if half of his brain is awake all night. Different people have different kinds of alertness during their sleep but it is better to sleep in your own place to have proper rest.

Similar to all the other things our mind and body get accustomed to, the brain gets accustomed to the place we sleep in. For example, if there is one specific place or bed, our brain automatically accepts it as the best resting place. The position of the bed makes our body and mind get used to it. Thus, if we change it by any chance then our entire body and mind functioning gets disturbed.

Scientists and medical experts believe that people should not change their sleeping positions more often. Even if you are out, partying late, you should always sleep in your own bed to make sure that you are getting proper rest. In addition, sleeping at unfamiliar positions makes you develop a habit of sleeping alert. Too much alertness while sleeping is not good for your health in a longer run.
