Non-Tariff Business Barriers for Iran and Pakistan

It is again good news for the businessmen of Pakistan and Iran. Both the countries have signed a pact to prepare grounds for free trade agreement (FTA). In the light of this agreement, there would be no non-tariff barriers in bilateral trade. There are a lot of trade and economic advantages for both the countries to take benefit from after this pact is implemented.

It is a very pleasant surprise that both the countries have shown keen interest to remove all these barriers and issue a long-term multiple-entry visa to all the businessmen. This decision will readily increase direct air flights to promote the prospects of trade in both the countries.

Strategically, Pakistan and Iran both share a very good trade location. Both the countries can share a lot of economic advantages through effective trade. Both the countries are also capable of backing one another in desperate economic times. This pact would improvise export services, in terms of transportation, communication, finance, insurance and IT fields. Already, Pakistan is getting millions of foreign exchange in buying cheaper oil and exporting rice to them.

This pact has been termed as five-year Strategic Trade Cooperation Plan (2016-2021). It is now anticipated that it will begin a new era, providing greater opportunities to the two countries and enhanced economic cooperation. The Recent visit of Iranian President in Pakistan has accelerated all these activities to a great extent. Thus, it is also expected that diplomatic ties between both the countries shall strengthen.
